Middle School Dual Immersion Program

(Rising E.E. Miller and W. H. Owen 6th Grade Immersion Students only and Spanish Heritage Native
Speaking students)

  • Provides an immersion language experience in a multicultural setting
  • Prepares students for the competitive nature of the 21st-century society
  • Offers language experiences in Spanish, Mandarin Chinese, or Arabic
  • Develops students’ proficiency in the Chinese Language and understanding of Chinese Culture
  • Introduces students to the language, culture, and history of Arabic-Speaking countries
  • Immerses native Spanish speakers in a formal study of Spanish, focusing on grammar, reading, listening and writing, vocabulary development, exposure to language and culture of Hispanic communities
  • (Transportation limited to Seventy-First High School Attendance Area Transport Zone)

New Century International
(Rising E.E. Miller, New Century International Elementary and W. H. Owen 6th Grade Immersion Students only)

  • Provides an opportunity for students who have completed the K-5 language immersion program from E. E. Miller, W. H. Owen, and New Century lnternational Elementary to continue at the middle school level.
  • Broadens skills in cultural awareness and global knowledge
  • Provides content instruction in Spanish or Mandarin Chinese
  • Strengthens students’ language skills through interaction with other speakers of the language
