The Choice application has been reopened for families to apply for the 2020-2021 school year for the following schools: 

  • Williams H. Owen Elementary (Language Immersion)
  • E. E. Miller Year-Round Elementary (Language Immersion)
  • Reid Ross Year Round Middle (Classical Studies)
  • Massey Hill High (Classical Studies)
  • Douglas Byrd High (Academy of Finance), (Academy of Green Technology)
  • E. E. Smith High (Academy of Math and Science), (Academy of Fire Science)

The Choice Program application can be accessed via the Family Dashboard.

Cumberland County Schools is proud to offer a variety of Choice Programs tailored to meet the diverse needs of students.  Choice Programs are uniquely themed concepts implemented at select schools throughout the district. You can xercise your power of choice within CCS by learning more about the Choice Programs available to students and select a program that best matches your child’s interests and futre goals.

Click on the appropriate buttons to the right of this page to link to the Choice Program options at each grade level.  For additional information, call the school to speak to the principal or Academy Director and schedule a visit.   If you have questions regarding the status of your application or student assignment process, contact the CCS’ Student Assignment Office at 910-678-2616.  Follow us on Twitter @ccschoice1 to stay informed about Choice Program updates.

Once a parent/legal custodian makes the commitment to enroll a student in a  Choice Program, the parent/legal custodian will not be able to transfer the student to another school during the school year.  Exceptions to this policy must be requested in writing to the Student Assignment Office and approved by the Board of Education.
